About

FROM OUR FARM TO YOUR TABLE.

Valley Meadows of Model Farm began in 2017 as an extension of my family’s farming operation- Model Farm Angus. I had been living in MB and was looking to move home, and decided on this project after having some exposure to many different direct to consumer food programs. I started with friends and family and did a trial run in 2017 that I (and the customer feedback) felt very good about. Good enough to expand for 2018.

It began as a weekly “Growler” program meant that you would get your containers, and you return each week to fill them. Instead of new egg cartons every week- you get a wonderful reusable container that is hearty enough to throw in a camping cooler if need be without breaking any eggs. I grew a large variety of veggies, and work with other local farms for the things that I didn't grow myself (i.e. strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or for lettuce if I kill all my transplants by planting them out too early). In 2022 the model has changed a little bit to give some flexibility on the customer side and our growing side which was lucky because it rained non-stop . The 2023 season was full of tricky growing conditions with plenty of drought, and in 2024 things on the cattle side and personal side got too busy to plant much but a good fall harvest of things.

2025 had plans to plant vegetables and do some pop up farm stands when product is available. A few value added additions include liver, heart and tongue dog treats in addition to jams, jellies, salsas, and pickles. It ended up being a drought and water needed to be conserved but the ornamental corn LOVED it.

Optimism abounds in 2026- I have restructured to spend more time in the garden and am hoping for good growing conditions, some local partnerships, and PERHAPS the addition of some cut flowers to add to the pop up farm stand!

We have been providing ground beef pre-orders as we have items ready and occasionally will have mixed quarters and sides available. Sign up for the e-news and follow on social media for updates!

Thanks for your support and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
